You need music, a clear floor and an adult to explain. Try one game first. Five minutes is a starting idea, not a target. Stop or change when the group needs something else.
1. Flamingo freeze dance
Dance while the music plays. On the pause, make flamingo wings or briefly lift one foot if comfortable. Both feet on the floor is always fine. Nobody is eliminated.
For ages 4–6, an adult demonstrates. Older children can suggest an animal. Leave space and avoid jumping towards others.
2. Penguin steps
Take small steps to the beat with arms at your sides. The adult demonstrates slow and slightly faster steps. Walk rather than race and give everyone their own space.
Younger children repeat one movement. Around ages 7–8, a volunteer can invent a move for others to copy.
3. Animal mirror
Two children face each other. One moves slowly like an animal; the other mirrors. Swap after a short turn. An adult can lead if pairs are difficult.
Keep movements small: stretch like a cat, make wings or wave an arm like a trunk. Rolling or crawling is unnecessary.
Agree with the DJ
Discuss ideas beforehand and leave room for the DJ’s programme. These are DIY suggestions, not automatically included show elements. Watching, sitting or choosing another movement is welcome. DiscoDieren.nl does not bring live animals.

Turn it into a short dance session
Queue two or three suitable songs beforehand so you do not have to search mid-game. Explain one game without music, then try a practice round. Ask whether the children want the same move again or a different one. One well-loved game is enough; you need not play all three in a row.
With four-year-olds, stay together as one group. Older children may take turns demonstrating if they want to. Finish while it is still fun and have drinks ready. A child who does not want to dance can suggest an animal from the side.
Would you like to enjoy the party too?
You can lead these games yourself. Prefer a children’s DJ to handle music and dance activities? Enquire about a mini disco with your date and the children’s ages. Share your game ideas; we agree beforehand what fits the show.
